A modern grandma, wearing jeans, tells her grandchildren what it was like to be their age—she played many of the same games they do and also put on shows for which everything was homemade; she read some of the same stories, celebrated the same holidays, and wondered about the future. The understated rhyming text is nicely extended in new illustrator Arnold's pictures- -using a varied, bold black line and bright but subtle colors, she authentically evokes the 40's.
