SNOWY, BLOWY WINTER

The simple, playful rhymes make this celebration of winter a solid choice for sharing with toddlers and beginning readers alike. “Strappy, / zippery, / icy and slippery! / Angels are lovely. / Sidewalks are shovely.” With just one word or phrase per image or page-turn, this makes for a quick, rhythmic read. Stead’s illustrations provide a narrative, following one neighborhood’s multicultural families through their wintry afternoon, from the children arriving home off the bus as the snowflakes begin to fly through an end-of-evening cookie-baking.
