BIG BROTHER

Big brother, as the protector or the tormentor, has figured in both children's and adult books. In this charming picture book illustrated in softly drawn, diminutive drawings by March Chalmers, Big Brother is a sort of Big Bad Wolf, who, when Little Sister finally sees through his bravado, becomes an interested companion. Repetition, skillfully employed, adds charm to the narrative, and is incorporated in the winsome illustrations.
