All 26 letters are displayed prominently in red, and generally one letter is featured per page, although some prominent letters are featured as double-page spreads. Each letter corresponds with one to three railroading concepts, such as “D” paired with “Depot” and “Dining Car,” and each of these concepts feature a short descriptive statement. A short “Caboose Quiz,” its answers and a playful scoring system are featured on the back inside flap of the book jacket to test readers’ retention.
