When night falls, cats take one last run around the house, dogs take to barking at sounds they've slept through all day, and some kids pass their own average for noise. This small book cleverly orchestrates the urge to racket. It's a downright sly affair that leads the junior larynx through buzzes, cheeps, roars — all the sounds of barnyard and jungle. At the laryngitis point, the book ends with its only line of text "Butterflies are very quiet". (And so to bed?) Each page is a colorful woodcut of a variety of animals with the appropriate noises urged. Good looking and likely to be effective.
