A lighthearted romp of a nightmare, retold with simplicity and an engaging lilt. Like many another Irishman, Daniel pauses on the way home from an overabundant feast and gets involved with the supernatural, in this case a pooka who carries him off on an adventurous journey that includes the moon and the bottom of the sea, all depicted by Caldecott winner and film maker McDermott in glowing blues and emerald greens. A satisfying picture book to share with a group for St. Patrick's Day or any other day. McDermott is working on an animated film, to include this story and two others.
