Little readers learn loads of words.
Words, words, and more words are the focus of this large board book. Each turn of the page presents a new scenario, mostly double-page spreads of common landscapes, filled with flaps to lift and words to learn. There are dozens of flaps across the book's pages, and even after several reads little fingers will find one or two that they haven't flipped before. Settings include the park, a forest, a street, and the backyard, all inhabited by anthropomorphic animals. The illustrations are rounded and soft with a primary-color palette that will certainly attract the attention of most young readers. Flaps showing the people, places, and things identified are appropriately placed around each illustration, and the words underneath label each item with stark black text. The flaps are sturdy and the book is well-bound, so even the toughest readers will have to work a bit before tearing off the flaps.
A colorful and informative expansion of a little babbler’s vocabulary.
