THE RABBIT WHO COULDN’T FIND HIS DADDY

This charming nighttime tale finds Rabbit and Daddy bonding one sleepless night. Rabbit wakes in his parents’ bed one night to see Mommy and Little Sister, but no Daddy. Rabbit and Little Sister search everywhere, but can’t find Daddy. When they look outside, the door slams behind them, and Little Sister screams and screams. Mommy and Daddy come running—Daddy’s been in the basement! He couldn’t sleep in his too-crowded bed, so he went looking through his childhood toys. Mommy and Little Sister scoff at Daddy’s scruffy stuffed lamb, but not Rabbit, who stays up late talking with Daddy. A few subtle details in the affectionate and sleepy pen-and-watercolor illustrations add flavor: the family’s tired eyes, the tattered plush lamb, Daddy’s bathrobe belt tied rakishly around Little Sister’s head.
