From the team behind One Day, Two Dragons (1992), a jolly nap time book that begins ``ONE day, TWO dragons' mothers said these THREE words: `Time for naps.' '' They are forced upstairs to bed, while all kinds of wonderful things are going on. In bed they dream up different counting activities: numbering vacation spots, inventing secret codes, etc. They fall asleep just as their mothers come to get them up for an afternoon snack. The idea of missing a treat may not encourage children to sleep, but they'll appreciate the joke and all the maneuvers that precede it. Street's illustrations match the friendly tone of the text, showing wide- awake dragons engaged in antics sure to amuse the read-aloud crowd. The book includes a counting lesson, of course, but it succeeds primarily as entertainment for other reluctant nappers. (Picture book. 3-8)
