``One day, two dragons caught a cab to Three Bug Street...to get four vaccinations...for measles, mumps, scale rot, and morning breath'' begins this amiable counting-cum-shots-aren't- so-bad book. Numbers in sequence to 20 (and twenty) are worked into the text and illustrations of a story that's not quite good enough to stand on its own. But taken with the crisp, colorful illustrations with their appealingly ingenuous little dragons, gently caricatured humans, and imaginative inclusion of extra numbers and things to count, it all adds up to an attractive practice vehicle. Not as accomplished as Peter Sis's Going Up (1989), but in the same useful vein. (Picture book. 4-8)
