Repetition and rhyme are key in this story of Flora's day at the zoo. "She looked at the giraffe and the giraffe looked back," is the first verse, with the tiger, penguin, ostrich, koala, and gorilla following suit. Nothing much happens, but children's heads will be bobbing along with the cadence. Whitman's charming torn-paper collage illustrations add visual excitement and a fresh approach to the zoo.
