"Using Copy Machines to Make Decals, Silhouettes, Flip Books, Films, and Much More!"—including customized stationery, miniature scenes and toys, jigsaw puzzles, iron-on motifs, gummed stamps and seals, collages, stencils, and bumper stickers. Instructions are crystal-clear, with excellent b&w diagrams of each project and complete listings of materials and supplies. Suggestions are given for finding and using clip art, transfer lettering, and transparencies. Some of the projects are doable on an ordinary office copier; many more require the sophisticated capabilities and special stocks available at commercial copy shops. It's a new departure for Newbery-winner Fleischman (Joyful Noise, 1989), but the jacket reports that he's "been playing with copiers for ten years." Lists of recommended books with collections of clip art and of work by professional copy artists (including David Hockney). (Nonfiction. 8+)
