THE MELLOPS GO FLYING

It is hard not to get excited about this for it reminds one of the best of the Babar books with something else thrown in to make it distinctive and original. It is told in the present tense, all based on the merent of happenstances and relates how a family of pigs- father, four sons and pet dog, build their own airplane, have a near fatal adventure and get back home safely again. Mr. Ungerer's delightfully posed pink and blue drawings for the story show an astute scientific correctness that adds to the amusement. He is a young European whose first juvenile we hope forecasts a long and happy connection with the field.
