Bailey Bass has joined the cast of the upcoming AMC series adaptation of Anne Rice’s Interview With the Vampire, Deadline reports.
Bass, who has also been cast in three upcoming sequels to the film Avatar, will play Claudia, a young girl who’s turned into a vampire. Claudia was portrayed by Kirsten Dunst in the novel’s first film adaptation, which was released in 1994.
Two other actors are already attached to the project: Sam Reid (Waiting for the Barbarians) will play the vampire Lestat de Lioncourt, and Jacob Anderson (Game of Thrones) will portray Louis, another vampire.
Rice’s 1976 debut follows Louis, a Louisiana plantation owner who’s turned into a vampire by Lestat; the two then turn Claudia into a vampire “daughter.” The book was a hit, and Rice wrote several sequels, most recently Blood Communion, which was published by Knopf in 2018.
The 1994 film adaptation of the novel, which starred Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt along with Dunst, was a huge hit, and garnered two Academy Award nominations.
The AMC series adaptation will be written by Rolin Jones (Friday Night Lights, Perry Mason), who will also serve as showrunner. Executive producers include Jones, Rice, Christopher Rice, and Alan Taylor (The Many Saints of Newark), who will also direct two episodes of the series.
Interview With the Vampire will begin airing in 2022.
