Bill Clinton and James Patterson are making their second joint foray into the world of fiction.
The former president and the bestselling thriller author are collaborating once again on a novel, publishers Alfred A. Knopf and Little, Brown and Company said in a news release. The President’s Daughter is slated for release next year.
The novel isn’t a sequel to the pair’s previous book, The President Is Missing, despite the similar title. The book will follow “a former president of the United States, now relocated to rural New Hampshire, whose daughter is kidnapped.”
The President Is Missing was the bestselling novel of 2018. A reviewer for Kirkus called the book “formulaic but reasonably fun provided you have no expectations concerning probability or literary quality.”
“I never imagined I’d be writing a book with a master storyteller like Jim, much less two,” Clinton said in a news release. “I was grateful for the success of the first book, and I believe readers will enjoy reading The President’s Daughter as much as I’m enjoying working on it,” said President Clinton.
Patterson struck a similar note, saying, “Working with President Clinton has been a highlight of my career, and I’m thrilled to have the chance to write with him again.”
The President’s Daughter is slated for publication in June of 2021.
