Britney Spears’ 2002 film Crossroads is coming back to theaters for two nights as part of a celebration of the pop star’s upcoming memoir, Entertainment Weekly reports.
The movie, directed by Tamra Davis, written by Shonda Rhimes, and starring Spears, Zoe Saldana, and Taryn Manning, will get another chance at the big screen on Oct. 23 and 25. Spears’ memoir, The Woman in Me, is scheduled for publication by Gallery Books on Oct. 24.
Crossroads follows three teenage girls who embark on a road trip from Georgia to California, spurred by opening a “wish box” they made as children. The film was a box office success but largely reviled by critics.
It earned two MTV Movie Award nominations and three Teen Choice Award nods—but also drew eight nominations for the Golden Raspberry Awards, given annually to movies seen as low quality. (One nomination was in the “Most Flatulent Teen-Targeted Movie” category; it lost to Jackass: The Movie.)
Director Davis said in a statement, “We had the best time in the world making this picture and the connection the actresses bring to their performances shows in every frame. The music will undoubtedly have audiences dancing and singing along and I know everyone will have as much fun watching these scenes as we had making them. I’m so grateful that Crossroads will be available so people can see Britney shine again.”
