Diane Kruger will make her literary debut this year with a children’s book about the meanings of names, People magazine reports.
The actor, known for her roles in National Treasure and Inglourious Basterds, will publish A Name From the Sky this fall with mineditionUS. The press describes the book as “an enchanting story about how learning the meaning of her name changed her life—and how our names can help us find our own special powers.” The book is illustrated by artist Christa Unzner.
“I think as children, we suffer through things, whether that’s a given name, or somebody says something mean to you,” Kruger told People. “Everything is so up in the air. In time, your powers will come, and you don’t have to worry. That kind of was the idea of the book.”
A Name From the Sky details the story of Kruger’s mother teaching her about the origin of her name, and her experience of visiting a theater as a child, which led to her decision to pursue acting.
“This warm and relatable autobiographical story comes full circle when Diane explains how she chose her own daughter’s name, and invites readers to learn the meaning behind their own name and discover their own special powers,” mineditionUS says. Kruger and actor Norman Reedus have a 3-year-old daughter, Nova Tennessee.
A Name From the Sky is slated for publication on Oct. 25.
