In his new memoir, Kevin Federline writes that he is concerned about the mental health of his ex-wife, pop star Britney Spears, the New York Times reports.
Dancer and DJ Federline’s You Thought You Knew is slated for publication next Tuesday by the new publisher Listenin. In the book, according to the Times, Federline writes about what he says was a series of incidents, after the end of their marriage from 2004 to 2007, in which the couple’s two sons would wake up to find Spears standing in their doorways, holding a knife, then “turn around and pad off without explanation.”
Later in the book, Federline writes, “The truth is, this situation with Britney feels like it’s racing toward something irreversible. It’s become impossible to pretend everything’s OK. From where I sit, the clock is ticking, and we’re getting close to the 11th hour. Something bad is going to happen if things don’t change, and my biggest fear is that our sons will be left holding the pieces.”
Spears, who has in the past struggled with her mental health, was famously placed under a conservatorship run by her father and a lawyer in 2008. It was terminated by a judge in 2021.
A representative for Spears told Entertainment Weekly, “With news from Kevin’s book breaking, once again he and others are profiting off her and sadly it comes after child support has ended with Kevin. All she cares about are her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James, and their well-being during this sensationalism. She detailed her journey in her memoir.”
Spears’ The Woman in Me, published in 2023, was a huge bestseller.
