Greg Kinnear is among the actors joining the cast of a planned film based on Maggie Stiefvater’s young adult fantasy novel Shiver, Deadline reports.

Stiefvater’s book, published in 2009 by Scholastic, follows the relationship between a girl named Grace and Sam, a werewolf who saved her life. It is the first book in the Wolves of Mercy Falls series, which continued with Linger, Forever, and Sinner.

The film adaptation of the novel was announced earlier this month. Shiver will be directed by Claire McCarthy (The Waiting City, Ophelia) and written by McCarthy and Jett Tattersall (Companion); it stars Maddie Ziegler (Music, West Side Story) and Levi Miller (Pan, A Wrinkle in Time).

Kinnear, known for his roles in films including As Good as It Gets and Little Miss Sunshine, has joined the cast alongside Sofia Wylie (The School for Good and Evil), Lyon Daniels (The Spiderwick Chronicles), Ross Butler (13 Reasons Why), Alicia Witt (Urban Legend), Iman Vellani (Ms. Marvel), and Alexander Ludwig (The Hunger Games).

Some of the actors shared news of their casting on Instagram, including Daniels, who posted, “I got that dawg in me”; Miller, who wrote, “Growing out my winter coat,” and Ziegler, who posted, “this has been 2 years in the making! finally able to share about this film that i’m honored to be producing and acting in! i hope you love grace as much as i do.”
