Gwyneth Paltrow has harsh words for the author of a recent unauthorized biography of her.

In an interview with British Vogue, the actor and celebrity influencer blasted Amy Odell, author of Gwyneth: The Biography, as a “hack.”

Odell’s book, published in July by Gallery, recounts the life story of Paltrow, the Academy Award-winning actor, Hollywood scion, and founder of Goop, the frequently satirized lifestyle company. A critic for Kirkus wrote that “Odell paints Paltrow as a calculating and not particularly nice person” and called the biography “catnip for those who can’t get enough Hollywood buzz.”

Paltrow told British Vogue executive editor Giles Hattersley that she hasn’t read the book, but that her husband, television writer Brad Falchuk, had “flicked through it.”

“He said, ‘It’s as if somebody put in a prompt in ChatGPT and said: mine every Daily Mail article and write a biography about Gwyneth Paltrow,’” the actor said. “She totally missed everything, the truth of who I am, what my impact is. He was like, ‘It’s just bad. It’s really badly written.’ I was like, ‘OK.’ The stuff that I saw in People magazine, and [other outlets that picked it up], it was all rubbish, the things that I supposedly said.”

She added, “I think it’s very sexist. I was like, ‘OK, hang on a sec. Why do the men get Walter Isaacson and I get this hack?’” Isaacson is the author of biographies of notable figures including Albert Einstein, Steve Jobs, and Elon Musk.

People magazine reports that on Instagram Odell posted, and then deleted, a picture of the cover of British Vogue featuring Paltrow with the text “Here we go with the Oscar campaign.” Paltrow is the co-star of Marty Supreme, the upcoming Josh Safdie film scheduled for release in December.
