Rebecca Roanhorse and Robert Jackson Bennett are among the winners of the 2025 Hugo Awards, which honor outstanding science fiction. The awards were announced at the convention Seattle Worldcon, which took place last week.

Roanhorse won the best series prize for Between Earth and Sky, her series of novels that includes Black Sun, Fevered Star, and Mirrored Heavens. Black Sun was a finalist for the Hugo Award for best novel in 2021.

Bennett won this year’s best novel prize for The Tainted Cup, which was also a finalist for the Locus Award for best fantasy novel.

The best novella prize went to Ray Nayler for The Tusks of Extinction, while Naomi Kritzer took home the best novelette award for “The Four Sisters Overlooking the Sea.”

Jordan S. Carroll won the best related work prize for Speculative Whiteness: Science Fiction and the Alt-Right. The best graphic story or comic award went to Star Trek: Lower Decks: Warp Your Own Way, written by Ryan North and illustrated by Chris Fenoglio.

The winner of the Lodestar Award for best young adult book was Sheine Lende, written by Darcie Little Badger and illustrated by Rovina Cai.

The Hugo Awards were established in 1953. Previous winners include Frederik Pohl for Gateway, Susanna Clarke for Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, and Mary Robinette Kowal for The Calculating Stars. A full list of this year’s winners is available at the Seattle Worldcon website.
