Christina Lauren’s In a Holidaze is getting a Netflix film adaptation, Deadline reports.

The romantic comedy novel, written by Lauren—the pen name for writing partners Christina Hobbs and Lauren Billings—was published in 2020 by Gallery Books. It tells the story of Maelyn, a woman who is spending Christmas at the beloved Utah cabin that she and her family have spent holidays at for years. As she drives away, she’s involved in a car crash, and finds herself returning to the cabin, à la Groundhog Day, over and over.

A critic for Kirkus wrote of the book, “A classic plot plus Lauren’s trademark snark and steam add up to a winning rom-com full of heart and holiday cheer.”

The film adaptation will be written by Tiffany Paulsen, whose previous credits include the movies Reunion, Holidate, and About Fate. Paulsen is also the writer on a planned adaptation of Lynn Painter’s Mr. Wrong Number.

Hobbs and Billings announced the adaptation on Instagram, writing, “We definitely weren’t expecting this news to drop today, but WE ARE SO GLAD IT DID! This has been one of those biting-our-lips-closed kinds of things that we’ve been so excited about, and we cannot wait to see it take shape!”
