Jameela Jamil and Lukas Gage are among the latest additions to the cast of the upcoming film based on Emily Henry’s People We Meet on Vacation, People magazine reports.

Henry’s novel, published in 2021 by Berkley, follows free-spirited Poppy and buttoned-down Alex, two best friends who have a falling-out and don’t speak for two years, then reconnect on a vacation. In a starred review, a critic for Kirkus called the novel “a warm and winning When Harry Met Sally… update that hits all the perfect notes.”

The film adaptation is written by Yulin Kuang (Kissing in the Rain) and directed by Brett Haley (Heart Beats Loud, All the Right Places). Last month, it was announced that Emily Bader (My Lady Jane) and Tom Blyth (Billy the Kid) would play the lead roles in the film.

Jamil, known for her role in the series The Good Place and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, will also star in the movie, alongside Gage (Euphoria, The White Lotus), Lucien Laviscount (Snatch, Emily in Paris), and Sarah Catherine Hook (First Kill).

People We Meet on Vacation is one of four books by Henry with a screen adaptation in the works, alongside Happy Place, Funny Story, and Book Lovers.
