Former Vice President Kamala Harris will tell the story of her 2024 presidential campaign in a new book.
Simon & Schuster will publish the California Democrat’s 107 Days in the fall. “Written with candor, a unique perspective, and the pace of a page-turning novel, 107 Days takes you inside the race for the presidency as no one has ever done before,” the press says.
Harris served as the district attorney of San Francisco, attorney general of California, and U.S. senator before becoming the running mate of former President Joe Biden in 2020. After Biden defeated President Donald Trump in that election, Harris became the first woman, first Black person, and first Asian American to serve as vice president of the United States.
Last July, Biden withdrew from his reelection bid after a disastrous debate with Trump in June, and Harris became the presidential nominee, choosing Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate. At the end of the breakneck campaign, Harris lost the presidential election to Trump. On Wednesday, she said that she would not run for California governor next year, but did not rule out a presidential bid in 2028.
Harris announced her memoir in a video posted on the social platform X. “Since leaving office, I’ve spent a lot of time reflecting on those [campaign] days, talking with my team, my family, my friends, and pulling my thoughts together,” she said. “In essence, writing a journal that is this book: 107 Days. With candor and reflection, I’ve written a behind-the-scenes account of that journey. I believe there’s value in sharing what I saw, what I learned, and what I know it will take to move forward.”
What the world saw on the campaign trail was only part of the story.
