Molly Shannon and Alan Ruck are among the new additions to the cast of the Netflix film adaptation of Emily Henry’s People We Meet on Vacation, Variety reports.
Henry’s romantic comedy novel, published by Berkley in 2021, follows Alex and Poppy, two best friends who reconnect on a vacation after having a falling-out. In a starred review, a critic for Kirkus called the novel “a warm and winning When Harry Met Sally… update that hits all the perfect notes.”
The film adaptation will be written by Yulin Kuang (I Ship It) and directed by Brett Haley (Hearts Beat Loud), with the lead roles being played by Tom Blyth (Billy the Kid) and Emily Bader (My Lady Jane).
Shannon, the Saturday Night Live alum who has starred in the television series Divorce and The White Lotus, has joined the cast alongside Ruck (Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Succession), Miles Heizer (Love, Simon), Alice Lee (Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist), and Tommy Do (Hacks).
They join previously announced cast members Jameela Jamil (The Good Place, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law), Lukas Gage (Euphoria, The White Lotus), Lucien Laviscount (Snatch, Emily in Paris), and Sarah Catherine Hook (First Kill).
Fans of Henry have three other adaptations to look forward to. The author’s novels Happy Place, Funny Story, and Book Lovers are also headed to the screen.
