A new novel by The Idea of You author Robinne Lee is coming in 2026, Variety reports.
St. Martin’s will publish Lee’s Crash Into Me next summer. It calls the book “sizzling, seductive fiction that’s both recognizable and heartbreaking.”
Lee, an actor who has appeared in films including National Security, 13 Going on 30, and Hitch, made her literary debut in 2017 with The Idea of You, a novel about a 40-year-old woman who embarks on a relationship with a younger pop singer. A Kirkus critic praised the book as a “fascinating, thought-provoking, genre-bending romantic read.” The novel was adapted into a 2024 film directed by Michael Showalter and starring Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine.
Crash Into Me will follow Cecilia Chen, a Los Angeles woman whose life changes after she gets into a minor car accident with Anouk Ferrand, a model from her past. “Sexy and emotionally involving, at Crash Into Me’s core are familiar and much-discussed challenges for many women: how to express creativity, how to be frankly sexual and emotionally vibrant in and out of a marriage, how to be a constant friend, a good mother,” St. Martin’s says.
Lee shared news of the book on Instagram, writing, “I have been living and breathing with these characters for a while now, and can’t wait to share them with the rest of you!”
Crash Into Me is scheduled for publication on July 7, 2026.
