Corinne Bailey Rae’s biggest hit single is the inspiration for her upcoming children’s book.

Rocky Pond Books will publish the singer-songwriter’s Put Your Records On, illustrated by Gillian Eilidh O’Mara, next year, the press announced in a news release.

Bailey Rae began her musical career with the indie rock group Helen, which disbanded before they could release an album. She made her solo debut in 2006 with a self-titled R&B record that spawned four singles, including her biggest hit, “Put Your Records On,” which was nominated for two Grammy Awards. The song saw a resurgence in 2020 when it was covered by indie rocker Ritt Momney; that version went viral on TikTok.

She has since released three more albums, most recently Black Rainbows in 2023.

Bailey Rae’s book will tell the story of Bea, whose great-aunt introduces the young girl to her record collection.

“When I was a child, music helped me find myself,” Bailey Rae said in a statement. “Through songs I discovered that others felt what I felt. Playing music grew my confidence and writing and performing my own music allowed me to fully express myself. I want every child to know that they have music in their heart and a voice that should be heard.”

Bailey Rae shared the news of her book on Instagram, writing, “I’ve had this story in my heart for many years and I’m so pleased to share it with you all.”

Put Your Records On is scheduled for publication on March 3, 2026.
