Reese Witherspoon’s latest book club pick is Emily Everett’s All That Life Can Afford.

Everett’s debut novel, published Tuesday by Putnam, follows Anna, a young American woman who follows her dream and moves to London after college. She meets a wealthy couple who flies her to Saint-Tropez to tutor their daughter, where she meets two wildly different men.

The title of the book comes from a quote by 18th-century English writer Samuel Johnson: “Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford.”

Witherspoon announced the book’s selection in an Instagram video featuring her French bulldog, Minnie Pearl.

“I am not going to try to convince you to read the April book club selection by talking about it,” she said. “I’m just going to sit here with my tiny little dog and play a clip from the audiobook, and you are going to be so hooked. That’s all you’re going to need to hear.”

She then played an excerpt from the audiobook, narrated by Alex Finke, in which Anna says, “London was mine, and I wasn’t going to give it up. Not because I couldn’t go home, but because I couldn’t give in.”

“All That Life Can Afford by Emily Everett…is about love, ambition, and the cost of belonging, and I cannot stop thinking about it,” Witherspoon added in the caption.

Everett reacted to Witherspoon’s post in an Instagram story, writing, “It’s my book. She’s talking about MY BOOK.” She added a crying emoji at the end.
