Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford has got another book coming.
The influential heavy metal singer will publish Biblical: Rob Halford's Heavy Metal Scriptures with Hachette this fall, Rolling Stone reports. The publisher describes the book as “the bible of hard rock and heavy metal,” written “in his enlightening, hilarious, and one-of-a-kind voice.”
Halford joined Judas Priest in 1973; he was the lead singer on the band’s first album, Rocka Rolla. He stayed with the band through the next 18 years, as the rockers released singles like “Living After Midnight,” “Breaking the Law,” and “You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’.”
He left the band in 1991, and rejoined 12 years later. Their most recent album, Firepower, was released in 2018.
In 2020, Halford published his first book, Confess, in which he wrote about his decision to come out as gay and his struggles with substance abuse. Kirkus and Rolling Stone named the autobiography one of the best music books of the year, with a Kirkus reviewer calling it “an entertaining, revealing portrait of the artist as a young—and old—rocker.”
Of the new book, Hachette writes, “In Halford’s relaxed and honest tone, the book mixes serious and in-depth pieces with whimsical reflections on lessons learned during his fifty years of a life in music. Biblical is a handed-down-from-on-high holy tome that transports fans behind the scenes and back into their record collections, to the almighty ways of rock.”
Biblical is slated for publication on Nov. 1.
