Scott Eastwood has joined the cast of the upcoming film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s Regretting You, Deadline reports.

Hoover’s novel, published in 2019 by Montlake Romance, follows Morgan, whose relationship with her 16-year-old daughter, Clara, is troubled. Their lives are thrown into further disarray when Chris, Morgan’s husband and Clara’s father, dies in an accident. A critic for Kirkus wrote of the book, “The emotions run high, the conversations run deep, and the relationships ebb and flow with grace.”

Eastwood, known for his roles in films including Invictus, Suicide Squad, and The Outpost, is the latest addition to the cast, which also features Allison Williams (Get Out), Mckenna Grace (I, Tonya), Dave Franco (The Disaster Artist), Willa Fitzgerald (The Goldfinch), and Mason Thames (The Black Phone).

The film is being directed by Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars) and written by Boone and Susan McMartin (the television series Mom). The executive producers include Hoover, Williams, Grace, and Franco.

Hoover’s novel It Ends With Us was adapted into a film that premiered last year; the movie has been mired in a controversy over a dispute between director and actor Justin Baldoni and his co-star Blake Lively, who are suing one another.

Another novel by Hoover, Verity, is also in the works as a film, with Michael Showalter directing a cast that includes Anne Hathaway, Josh Hartnett, and Dakota Johnson.
