Lauren Ling Brown’s Society of Lies is the latest pick for Reese Witherspoon’s popular book club.

Brown’s debut novel, published Tuesday by Bantam, follows Maya, a woman who returns to Princeton University for her 10-year college reunion. Maya’s sister, Naomi, is set to graduate from the school, but turns up dead; Maya suspects that Naomi’s involvement in a social club might have caused her death.

Witherspoon announced the book’s selection on Instagram in a video that shows her listening to the audiobook version of the novel while painting, walking her dog, and making a smoothie. In the caption, Witherspoon writes, “This gripping thriller follows Maya as she returns to Princeton for her sister’s graduation, only to be thrust into a chilling mystery surrounding her sister’s death and a secret society she knows all too well. If you’re looking for a page-turner that keeps you on the edge of your seat this spooky season, this one is a must-read!”

Brown also posted on Instagram about her book’s selection, writing, “I am beyond grateful to @reesewitherspoon and Reese’s Book Club for this incredible honor. This means more than words could possibly express. A big warm thank you to everyone who bought a copy of Society of Lies, as well as those who read the ARC and helped spread the word. Your support and kindness means the world to me.”
