Actor Stephen Graham and psychologist Orly Klein are editing a book of letters written by fathers to their sons.

Union Square & Co. will publish Graham and Klein’s Letters to Our Sons next year, the press announced in a news release. It calls the book “an era-defining book on fathers, sons, and the meaning of manhood.”

Graham said the genesis for the book was his work on the Netflix limited series Adolescence, which he co-created, co-wrote, and starred in. The series, which won Graham three Emmy Awards, follows a 13-year-old boy charged with murdering a classmate. Graham played the boy’s father in the series.

“After my experience of making Adolescence, I was really surprised with the amount of dads that came up to me and told me the kind of conversations they'd been having with their sons,” Graham said in a video announcing the book. “We came up with this wonderful idea to ask you dads out there to write some letters for a book where you can really talk to your sons and communicate with your sons.”

Submissions for the book opened Wednesday. Fathers interested in contributing letters can do so on the book’s website.

The letters, Klein said, “can be funny, they can be sad, they can be moving. It doesn’t matter what kind of dad you are. Doesn’t matter what your experiences [are]. You don’t have to be a great writer. You don’t have to write this perfectly. It’s just about writing honestly and you can submit anonymously if you want.”

Letters to Our Sons is scheduled for publication on October 6, 2026.
