Chandler Baker’s The Husbands is the latest pick for Good Morning America’s book club.

GMA co-anchor George Stephanopoulos made the announcement on the show Monday morning, calling Baker’s book “something of a twist on Stepford Wives.”

Baker’s novel, which is scheduled for publication Tuesday by Flatiron, follows a Texas lawyer and her husband who move to a wealthy neighborhood filled with powerful women and their docile, submissive male spouses. A reviewer for Kirkus called the book “a perpetually timely page-turner that is anything but subtle.”

The novel is being adapted into a film for MGM produced by and starring Kristen Wiig, with a screenplay written by Baker.

“The novel imagines a world where the burden of the second shift is equally shared and what it might take to get there,” Baker said on the show. “I know we’re going to have a lot to discuss.”

Baker reacted to her book’s selection on Instagram, writing, “Not even TRYING to play it cool over here because The Husbands is Good Morning America’s August book club pick! A huge thank you to @gmabookclub for choosing The Husbands. There’s lots more to come this month and I can’t wait to be sharing it all with you. (And, yes, THIS is why my publication date changed!)”

She also gave a shout-out to her fans, some of whom guessed that her novel would be GMA’s next pick. “You bookstagrammers should be working for the CIA,” she wrote. “Y’all are super sleuths. But HOW!?”
